I have just graduated from the University of Cambridge with a double-first in History. At A Level I achieved A*A*A*A* in History, English Literature, Classics and Politics. In my GCSEs I got 7A*s and 3As.

I tutor according to the needs of every student individually, and as such it is hard to generalise in terms of my approach. However, I try to make all of my tuition as dynamic as possible and attempt to get students to understand concepts or ideas by actively engaging with them. I will track students’ progress by trying to get them to provide verbal or written responses as appropriate, and target my teaching to improve students’ understanding in places where it is specifically lacking.

Two things I prioritise in my tuition are essay writing technique and revision strategies. Unlike the sciences, the trick to doing well in humanities subjects is not just blitzing past papers until you consistently get the grade you want. Far more important is learning how to write consistently good essays, and learning to revise the material needed for the exam effectively. These are skills I can help to teach you.

I am also happy to help students with extended pieces of writing and coursework.

Experience: I have tutored students privately and at my school. I also helped teach a Year 9 English set in my time at school, and acted as a mentor in the learning support department twice a week. I have volunteered as a Young Leader at a Cub group for six years, and have been a babysitter for children between the ages of 6 months and fourteen years old.
