Information about Rebecca
Hey there, I`m Becky! Nice to meet you.
I`m currently a University student studying International Relations, as well as self-teaching myself Japanese! I specialise in humanities, specifically politics, religious studies/philosophy, and English.
As someone who has been academically supported by tutors throughout my life, I know how important it is to be someone who supports and encourages throughout the tutoring process, whether this is for one-off tutoring or for consistent weekly sessions. As a tutor, my goal is to make those I help feel confident in their abilities and ultimately independent in their studies.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: `ve always felt as if the most effective way to approach extra support or tutoring as a tutee is to come prepared. I like my tutees to come to me prior to our session with a couple of questions or an outline of what they`re struggling with so I can create a lesson outline that includes:
__> Pre-prepared example questions and answers
__> Different approaches to the questions so that topics can be understood conceptually and not just on a base level
__> A resource pack that the student will have permanent access to after the session
My style of teaching is very much interactive and engaging rather than `lecture-style` speaking followed by questions and answers. I encourage consistent question asking, and I aim to provide students with the support and knowledge come to conclusions logically and independently.
I`ve been through the UK examinations system myself and have experienced AQA/Edexcel/WJEC exam boards as well as the IBO. I understand how these marking systems and curriculums work, and I aim to support students in enhancing their knowledge of how these systems work in order to maximise their marks. One of the best pieces of advice that was given to me in school was that, once you can think like an examiner, then you`re already at an advantage.
If you or your child are interested in working with me, or you`d like some more information, please let me know!
