Information about Samuel
I am an English Literature graduate from Cambridge University. I have over 4 years professional tutoring experience, tutoring personal clients as well as working for the most established tutoring companies in the UK.
I believe in encouraging learning through debate, setting a series of attainable goals and, most importantly, focusing on the needs of the individual. Going to Cambridge has helped develop my academic skills and has taught me to think and work at an exceptionally high level. My professional experience teaching and tutoring students has enabled me to engage with students on a personal level and use my own academic knowledge to help students learn and grow academically.
I loved my school days and really enjoyed my work. Imparting a love for a particular subject is the best way to get students to improve at that subject: this is my main goal.
If you have any questions at all please feel free to ask.
Availability: I am very flexible with availability. Happy to tutor on weekends.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I work with the best tutoring agencies in the UK and have a large number of tutees. I prefer working one on one though with independent clients.
I have been tutoring professionally for over two years now. I have taught a variety of students from 11+ and younger to degree level and higher. I have a regular client basis but I am able to take on a free more students and am often available for more short term tutoring as well.
I have a wealth of accomplishments in tutoring, not only in improving grades, getting students into first choice schools and universities, but also with personal progress with students: people seek tutors for all different reasons and it`s my job to make sure that I tailor my teaching to the individual need of the client.
I have formal teaching training in classrooms but I much prefer the one on one dynamic of tutoring.

deeply disappointed with Sam. He commands a steep hourly price but we decided that we wanted someone with a solid Ivy League education and his profile was promising. we hired him to help our housekeeper improve her spoken English and whilst she improved in the first couple of months. Her progress was non-existent in the past 3 months. She would still make basic but fundamental mistakes both in written and spoken English; after investigating I found out that he would give writing tasks and then sit there on his phone playing games or chatting with his friends. This is unacceptable in any circumstances. I cannot recommend him.
Tutors Response :
Alex and I have spoken about this in person. Alex said her disappointment was largely due to the lack of progress her housekeeper had had in conversation English. I was not aware that this was the focus. We had been working on the basics of vocabulary and grammar. I thought it was important for this to be the focus before moving onto verbal learning. Alex did say that there had been a lot of progress in the first two months of tuition but less in the last three. Sometimes learning is a gradual process. I often find that the basics are more easily picked up. Moving onto the advanced levels does take some time. The student had previously been moved out of two different language schools. So I do worry that the pertinence needed for this process was not there. I have worked with a number of students over the years and am happy to provide a number of other references.
Very knowledgable and experienced tutor who helped my son to receive A grade in one year time. My son grade was D in English. English is his second language. We are very happy and strongly recommend Sam to anyone who wants to get best grades.
