I am a Cambridge graduate who then went on to a research career, gaining an MSc and PhD, from Dundee and Manchester Universities respectively, before joining a research group in Oxford. I have a passion for Biology and a love and enthusiasm for teaching. My other interests include archery, gardening and patchwork.
Availability: Weekdays and evenings and Saturday mornings
Willing to travel: 30 miles
Experience: I started my teaching career in Oxfordshire and moved to Staffordshire two years ago. I am confident in teaching Physics, Chemistry and Biology to GCSE level but especially love teaching `A` level Biology. My previous research experience is a real asset in explaining and presenting genetic engineeering topics and I have had lots of positive feedback from my `A` level students and previous tutees.
I start with an overview of Biology - where does the topic you are studying fit in the grand scheme. Then we look at the function, mechanism and adaptations involved in the topic. Finally we explore techniques for summarizing and retaining the key points that will be needed as we practice answering relevant past paper questions and making a revision summary card on the topic for future use. Through working with you, I will help you find strategies and techniques that are useful to you in Biology and more generally to help you refine your study techniques across all your GCSE/`A` level studies and beyond.

review(s) for Wendy.
Wendy is a first class Tutor with whom my Daughter actually enjoys studying.
Wendy is in no way patronising and after only a couple of lessons my Daughter felt that Wendy knew how she learnt and so devises her lessons accordingly.
Tutors Response :
Thank you. Your daughter is a delight to teach and I am enjoying seeing her self-confidence develop.
