Information about Cole

Born in Calgary Alberta Canada in 1994, Cole started playing bass at the age of 15. After graduating from the Mount Royal University Music Academy for Gifted Youth in 2012, he went on to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance at the University of Calgary. Prior to graduating from the University of Calgary in 2016, Cole had already established himself as an in demand freelance musician throughout Western Canada, winning contracts with two regional orchestras and regularly performing as an extra musician with orchestras such as the Calgary Philharmonic, Red Deer Symphony, Symphony of the Kootenays, and the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra.

In the summers of 2013 and 2014 Cole was one of the youngest members ever invited to participate in the National Academy Orchestra in Hamilton, Ontario, and in 2015 he embarked upon a cross Canada tour with the prestigious National Youth Orchestra of Canada under the baton of Maestro Michael Francis. Other festival appearances include: the Orford Music Academy, the Morningside Music Bridge Festival, the Pacific Region International Music Festival, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Institute at Whistler, Moritzburg Festival, and the Britten-Pears YAP Orchestra.

In the 2016/17 season Cole took on the role of Marketing Director and solo Double Bass with Timepoint Ensemble in Calgary Alberta. While in this position he was able to bring a wide variety of modern day art music to a new and eager audience in a way that broke down traditions of days gone by to make way for new methods of artistic and self exploration.

In the Fall of 2018 Cole moved to London England to pursue a Master’s Degree in Orchestral Artistry at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in association with the London Symphony Orchestra, where he studied with professors Rinat Ibragimov and Luis Cabrera. While there he was a two time Guildhall Scholar, served as a teaching assistant to Professor Ibragimov, and was awarded a Jr fellowship position with the School upon attaining a Global Talent Visa in the Fall of 2020. Cole’s time at the Guildhall School was in part supported by a Music Individual Project Grant awarded to him by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts in 2018.

Cole is an incredibly self motivated individual with extensive experience in performing and teaching music in a wide variety of genres and will be branching out into yet another area in the Fall of 2020 with the release of a self-written/recorded/produced concept album released under the name Mole Corrison.
