Information about Annie
I am a Cambridge graduate who studied Theology & Religious Studies and graduated in 2018 with a first-class degree. Since then, I have been working in university outreach in schools. I am intending (coronavirus willing) to start a masters degree in autumn.
I enjoy working with young people and particularly relish the challenge of working with students who are struggling to understand new topics. I was home educated in a particularly relaxed way as a child, so I had to teach myself and my siblings in order to pass GCSEs and A levels. As a result, I am good at breaking down intimidating topics into bite-sized chunks and great with revision methods!
My first taste of tutoring success was with my sister, who struggled with writing essays owing to her dyslexia. In the run up to her GCSE exams, we worked hard together to simplify the process and come up with tactics for the exam. In the end she triumphed, even receiving an unexpected A in one essay-based subject. Since then, I have worked as an English and Maths tutor in an after-school club and as a mentor on English Language summer schools during my degree. Since graduating, I have worked in schools as an outreach officer for the University of Cambridge.
