I am a warm and enthusiastic teacher and tutor. I enjoy helping children reach their ‘lightbulb’ moment in maths.

I am currently a Year 3 teacher at a local primary school and I have really enjoy teaching lower KS2. However, I also have two years experience teaching in Year 1. This is also an age group I enjoy teaching due to their new found knowledge of number and willingness to take risks and make the necessary mistakes before learning from them and mastering a new skill.

Being a teacher allows me to use my transferable skills to spot the gaps in your child’s learning as well as their misconceptions and work together to ensure they are put right.

Before getting to the ‘abstract’ of maths I work hard to ensure the children understand the maths over just the method. Therefore, I often use resources such as cubes, dienes and numicon for the children to visualise their learning through the concrete before moving onto the abstract. If this is necessary it is a very successful technique.
