Information about Jolanta

I am putting a lot of thought into each of my lessons and I guide my students whatever their objectives are- whether it is to play at the Wigmore Hall or jazzing up Beatles ‘Let It Be’ at their friends’ dinner party! I especially enjoy teaching the children by incorporating fun musical games and activities and giving them plenty of encouragement and injecting enthusiasm to practise between the lessons. Often my little students cannot wait to show me what they have learned since our last lesson. I also give free piano lessons to underprivileged children. My oldest student is 75 years old and , having not played the piano before, he is now on top of the Beethoven`s Moonlight Sonata.

With a deep appreciation for many aspects of the piano, my students grow to love music and playing the piano, which provides the motivation needed to keep practicing and trying to improve. My integrated method is balanced between developing technical skills, music reading, aural skills, memorisation, improvisation and composition, as well as music literature and history. I also prepare my students for the ABRSM piano curriculum exams. I combine `fast track` learning and classical methods. You will play hands together in our first lesson!

I feel that playing the piano is becoming a dying art. We are now spending many hours of our day browsing through Instagram, clicking on News feeds or watching Netflix; these instant gratification sources are diminishing concentration, motivation, and goal-directed behaviour. As an alternative, I am encouraging to use your precious time learning a skill which would provide you and your child a lifetime of musical fulfillment and enjoyment. The benefits one gains from playing the piano have already been proved by science- playing the piano stimulates the brain by creating new neuro pathway connections, developing cognitive faculties, improves counting and math skills, improves language skills, expands vocabulary, prevents memory loss and dementia, increases lifespan, stimulates human growth hormone development, enhances concentration, relieves stress, slows ageing process and many many more. Moreover, playing any instrument provides a sense of inner peace and fulfillment, it can even be as a form of meditation and it helps to express our inner emotions and creativity through music.

p.s. If you are reading this and wondering that it might be too late for you or too time consuming, daunting and expensive, or you live in another area, I would like to encourage you to take up the piano lessons anyway- may it be with another teacher or even by watching YouTube lessons. You will reap the benefits beyond any Instagram, Twitter or Netflix feeds. If you have been waiting your whole life to learn the piano, please start today. It may seem like a long road, but in five or ten years, you will look back and be glad you started that journey!
