Information about Holly

Qualified and Experienced English Tutor with specialism in Dyslexia

I am a qualified secondary school English teacher and English as a Foreign Language tutor, with eight years’ experience of successfully tutoring students studying at a wide range of levels including KS2/3, GCSE, A Level and University level.

As a teacher I bring enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication to my classes. When working with students my aim is to boost their confidence, and in turn their ability, through friendly, patient and creative tutoring. I strongly believe that listening to the students’ needs and concerns is the most effective way of quickly and accurately identifying and addressing their specific areas of development. I also like to create individual learning plans for my students, which include weekly and monthly targets and regular reviews of their progress.

I am a qualified dyslexia tutor and a professional member of the British Dyslexia Association. I am therefore able to utilise a range of non-traditional learning strategies and techniques which encourage creative approaches to learning and are tailored towards the individual strengths and talents of the learner.

I am also a qualified English as an Additional Language teacher and have worked with students to improve their grammar accuracy and range, pronunciation and reading and writing skills. I have prepared students for entry to undergraduate study in the UK, Cambridge ESOL exams and general English development.

I have a real passion for teaching all aspects of English and take pride in developing my students’ confidence in their academic abilities and truly enjoy the rewards of enabling them to succeed.

My daughter is currently studying A level English Literature and is really pleased with Holly. She says Holly is an exceptional tutor. I hope the results reflect the feedback. Holly is organised structured and gives good direction and extracts the best out of the student so they can think for themselves. Very pleased. YH
