Information about Pieter
I am a second year mathematics student at the University of Nottingham, having achieved an A* in maths for both GCSE and A level. I have chosen this subject because, crucially, I like it. I find the problem solving and logic involved in maths very enjoyable, and I think that I could encourage similar enthusiasm for this subject in others.
I have struggled with dyslexia and therefore feel particularly able to help students with learning difficulties or who are especially struggling. This is because I have personally experienced, and developed successful coping mechanisms to deal with my own difficulties and therefore feel I would be able to both understand and help with students who are currently experiencing the same thing.
"I find him very helpful, he always explains in a way that I can understand. If I don`t understand, he always find different strategies to help me understand." Molly, 16.

Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have had lots of personal experience tutoring in mathematics, as this is a subject I enjoy and therefore often help my younger sister with her GCSE work. I pride myself on being both patient and adaptable, and have found that multiple ways of explaining a problem is key to ensuring understanding without patronising my student.
I have also had a number of part time jobs, including as a waiter and as a staff member for a boutique tent company. These experiences have instilled a proper work ethos and mentality in me, as I am aware of the importance of hard work, punctuality and communication. This skills translate directly into qualities that I think would make a good tutor.
I am dedicated to the care and education of students, and I know that I have both the skill set and the experience to ensure that students under my guidance gain confidence and knowledge in maths.
