Information about Laura

I am a Head of Year at one of the highest ranking schools in England for academic performance. I have knowledge and understanding of the difficulties young people experience and the impact on both personal development and academics. I am an experienced safeguarding deputy lead, learning mentor and pastoral leader with an Enhanced DBS.

My previous experience includes many years teaching and tutoring psychology as well running the psychology department at a local college and working as a Psychology Examiner for Pearson Qualifications.

I am also an experienced SEN assistant teacher with first class honours in psychology from Birkbeck, University of London, with a particular focus on cognitive and educational psychology.

Working at a special needs school teaching and supporting young people aged 5 - 25 with complex learning needs and in two mainstream secondary SEN departments, I developed a vast understanding of the complexities in working with pupils with SEN. I have taught and supported students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, EBD, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, GDD, Cerebral Palsy, anxiety disorders and Speech Language and Communication difficulties. I have also studied many of these needs and more during my years of study and continued professional development.

I specialise in 1:1 and small group learning. As a tutor, I can offer 1:1 lessons or group tuition* (prices at a reduced rate per person) or students who would prefer to learn alongside a friend. I will always offer the first lesson at a reduced rate and keep detailed notes. Due to the demanding nature of my job I currently tutor outside of term time only (including Christmas and throughout the summer).

I teach all GCSE and A Level Psychology topics as well as many undergraduate modules including research methods and critical analysis. Whether you are a prospective student wanting to start your course with good subject knowledge, or a current student wanting to improve your grade - I can support you.

I can also offer tuition many other primary and secondary subjects including maths up to GCSE level.

My tutoring can be an extension of what is currently being taught in class (including homework help) or independent study. This includes catch up sessions for pupils who have been disadvantaged by Covid-19 school closures. I am able to provide worksheets and revision materials.

Whether your child is following a mainstream curriculum, or that of an alternative provision please get in touch to discuss specific requirements.

*Please note due to lockdown I am currently only tutoring online.
