Information about Delvin
`An extremely hardworking, logical and passionate teaching professional with a proven set of skills that suit teaching, who studied Chemistry at a top Russell Group University.
An interest in education led to a Post-Graduate (PGDipEd) course to become a Science teacher, soon after, earning positions of increased responsibility.`
I am an adaptable educator who can convey ideas effectively, as well as motivate individuals and groups to foster a positive productive environment that ultimately leads to achieving set targets.
Currently, I am seeking tutees to help develop and make excellent progress from the moment we begin tuition. I will, to the best of my ability, promise improvements.
I aim to provide:
Revision and study tips
High quality sessions
Regular homework
Past exam papers
Model answers
Topic and revision checklists (exam board relevant)
Varied worksheets.
CV and UCAS application help and assistance.
I understand that it also important to have a good working relationship with my tutees and share some common interests. In my spare time I am a keen classically trained pianist, Olympic style weightlifter, strength trainer, movie enthusiast, traveller and computer gamer.
*I also provide a group discount on tuition sessions (maximum 3 per group).*
Availability: I am available 7 days a week.
However, due to an increased demand for science tutoring, please contact me for available time slots.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: Fully qualified Science teacher (QTS) and examiner with 3 years classroom experience at a school that recently won a national televised award, and over 3 years of tuition experience.
More over, I understand that it is important for tutors to have an excellent and proven academic background. However, I believe it is also equally important to know how to teach- no two people learn or respond exactly the same way. I have been trained to teach and have a positive track record of doing so.
Also, I am experienced with the requirements of the new 9-1 curriculum and have taught it to great depth, even producing unique resources for each topic (which will be available for tutees). I have taught combined (biology, chemistry and physics) science to a wide range of intellectual abilities and separate (formerly known as triple science) at GCSE level. I have also taught AS- Level chemistry.
Additionally, due to my experiences teaching a wide range of abilities, I have developed numerous strategies to help facilitate learning. As a result, I am an adaptable teacher and will strive to find a learning process that suits you.
I obtained my PGDipEd from the University of Birmingham, which is very similar to a PGCE, gaining extra credits towards a masters degree.
