Information about Suzanne
I am a fully qualified English Secondary School Teacher with 7 years of experience, specialising in teaching KS3 and GCSE students in a Good school in Wakefield and an Outstanding school in Leeds. I am also an English Literature Examiner for WJEC.
I am extremely passionate about my subject, and I convey this through innovative, challenging lessons that will keep students interested and motivated. I believe the key to engaging all students is to get to know their likes and dislikes, and plan accordingly (meaning I probably spend as long planning my sessions as I do teaching them!)
I am dedicated to helping children achieve their absolute potential and the look on a students face when they get it is why I continue to do what I do. I love creating sessions that will challenge students, and whilst I cant say I love marking, I have led whole school training sessions on effective marking and I certainly love the effects that effective marking has on a students progress. My sessions will be a combination of all of these factors individual planning, interesting sessions and effective marking that will ultimately result in your childs progress.

Experience: I qualified as an English Teacher specialising in ages 11-18 from Leeds Trinity University in 2009. My first training school, a fantastic school in Wakefield, offered me my first teaching position whilst I was still training and I undertook this position in June 2009. I worked as a Teacher of English in Wakefield for 4 years and was promoted to Head of House in my second year. I then worked as a Teacher of English at an Outstanding school in Leeds a school nationally renowned for its outstanding practises and where teachers from all over the country come to observe and train.
I specialise in students at KS3 and GCSE level and have been responsible for top sets with targets such as KS3 Level 8 or GCSE A* as well as lower sets where students have been set targets of Ds and Es (although I have re-set more aspirational targets of Cs which many students have attained). Although the new (9-1) GCSE Specifications follow a levelling structure as opposed to the old A*-G Grading system, I am fully up-to-date in all changes. I have demonstrated good or outstanding levels of progress in all of my groups.
Most recently, I have set up my own private tuition business which has been extremely successful. I have been fully booked for the last year and have received some excellent testimonials from my clients. It has been an absolute joy to watch these students flourish, and I eagerly await their examination results at the end of August.
I also became a WJEC Examiner for GCSE English Literature in 2016. This was an excellent opportunity for me, as the high quality training gave me a firm grasp on exactly how the scri pts are marked and what examiners are looking for in this exam. I received fantastic feedback about the quality of my work, and I will be returning again next summer.
Feedback For Suzanne (11)
Suzanne was kind enough to step in at the last minute when we were let down by another tutor last minute. She has been professional and helpful by supporting my son with his confidence in English. Much appreciated
Very helpful. My daughter has found her help as very useful in her GCSE English preparation.
She`s the best tutor I have ever had...I was insecure about my gcse exam but with her teaching style I went to the exam room feeling completely prepared.
I highly recommend her.5*
Suzanne was extremely helpful and guided my teenage son (17) through his GCSE English language retake examination. Like many teenage boys he was not particularly interested in english but Suzanne is very friendly and enthusiastic about her subject, instills confidence and kept him focused. He enjoyed attending the lessons and felt significantly more positive about his examination. My son and I would highly recommend her.
My son was very upset and mentally drained after he got D in GCSE English exam in June. I found Suzanne through Tutor Hunt. He was very apprehensive even to go for tutoring . Just after first lesson with Suzanne he was so happy and confident. He had 9 two hour lesson with her and has given English Exam today and he feel confident about results.
If anyone need English lesson I don`t have any hesitation recommend her for tutoring. Apart from very good knowledgeable teacher, she is also flexible and approachable. But I feel her stand out strength is in building confidence in students
She is the best English tutor I`ve had for my son. She gives him a Lot of confident and he really has moved up from a E to a C grade
I would definitely recommend Suzanne she was professional and very committed to helping me succeed. She was easy to get along with and was flexible to suit my timescales. She taught me how to improve on my techniques and gave me the confidence I needed to approach the exam feeling positive and well prepared. Thanks!!
Suzanne has been fantastic! I am a Trainee Teacher and Suzanne has been a huge help in helping me structure Masters level essays. Not only this she has helped my spelling, punctuation and grammar making sure my essays are reading correctly and have the correct content to achieve masters level. I am truly grateful and extremely happy with the help Suzanne has given me and my essays !! Suzanne is very approachable, always makes time for you and helps in the best way she can!! Thank you!!
I have requested assistance from Mrs. Hughes on the grounds of a poor professional probation review. My target was to substantially improve my conversational English in the short term (1 month) as well as long term overall performance in Business English.
Suzanne has picked up on this and worked out a 3 hour weekly plan customized for a foreigner adults learning. She has proved inventive and inceptive in her methods, taking into consideration work overload, new-comer foreigner, and has addressed the problem in a rapid stepwise approach.
I have passed the final probation review and have been offered more responsibilities in client engaging roles exceeding the job descri ption. My employers have agreed in covering all the tuition expenses for a period of 4 months, based on the excellent outcomes. Finally, I have been performing more confidently and fluently in job interviews and have been offered 2 more roles in just 1 month.
The credit goes to Suzanne. I strongly recommend people to address English language difficulties with Dove Tuition: not only have all the set goals been achieved but also in a very gentle and effective way. You will just enjoy it!
I would highly recommend Suzanne .
