Information about Jennifer
I am a conversation partner. Talk to me using Skype (or in person) to practise speaking in English and to increase your confidence.
Everyone should be able to communicate, and I am passionate about supporting people to understand others and to express themselves to the best of their ability.
I am a qualified English teacher (CELTA Pass A) and a HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist (BSc Hons). I`m also a registered Signalong tutor, teaching key-word signing to support people with communication needs or learning disabilities. In my spare time I play the clarinet, volunteer at my local theatre, and try different crafts. It`s nice to meet you!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What kind of English do you speak?
I grew up in South West England so I speak British English, and I have a standard southern British accent.
2. What will we talk about?
You choose the topics you want (or need) to talk about. Think about what you enjoy talking about, and the things you need to say in English. What topics and types of language do you want to practise? Maybe:
- exam topics
- holiday/travel English
- informal language or professional language
- academic or medical vocabulary
- or just a chat
3. I need to practise talking about specific topics for exams or work. Is that ok?
Yes, that`s ok. You choose what we talk about. This means that you can practise the vocabulary and topics you need for your life (or exams).
4. I have to do a presentation in English. Can you listen to it and give me feedback?
Yes, that`s a great idea. I can give you guidance about grammar, pronunciation, word choice, and how to get your message across to your audience.
5. I can`t speak English very well. Is that ok?
Yes, of course. Sessions with a conversation partner are a good way to practise speaking in a friendly and safe environment. Every time you talk you will get a bit more confident and a bit more fluent.
