Information about Zolekha

My name is Zolekha. I have been working in education (primary) for the last 9 years. Initially I began tutoring 5 years ago and then took a break from it. I started tutoring again nationally and internationally through recommendations from colleagues during the pandemic. The reason for this was because some parents and carers reached out as they thought their children were falling behind with learning.

Willing to travel: 50 miles

Experience: Currently, I work for a primary academy and work across the trust with 5 other schools. I specialise and hold a leadership role in Early Years Foundation Stage. My key responsibilities involve managing the Reception year groups across the Academy schools and aid staff to ensure that children are being challenged in their learning through an innovative curriculum as well as successful tried and tested methods.

School readiness is also a key priority for me; making sure that children in Early Years are prepared for formal learning in Year 1. Through observation, conversation with adults and children, and data analysis, I am able to identify the gaps in children’s learning and find ways to help them excel.

I have always been very passionate about education and feel that learning never stops. After completing my BA in Politics, I did a PGCE (Key Stage 2 Specialism) to qualify as a primary school teacher. Whilst teaching full time and in a leadership role, I began my Masters in Education to continue growing as a professional in my field. I am now looking to further my studies and begin my PhD to conduct research surrounding the significance of 1:1 support for children with Special Educational Needs.

As I have been working in EYFS for the last 8 years, my expertise lie in Nursery and Reception. I am able to help children progress in early reading, writing (English) and number (Maths). Phonics is a key area in EYFS and something I have been an expert in for many years. As I responsible for ensuring children are ready for KS1, therefore I also have a sound knowledge of how to support children in Year 1 and Year 2.

In the past I have tutored 1:1 in person and in small groups. However with the pandemic, I have had to do online sessions. This has also been the case as I am currently tutoring children in different continents. The virtual sessions have been very successful and I have had ample experience as I have had to do this during the pandemic for the school I curretly work for.

I am very flexible and can tutor according to the needs of parent/carers and pupils.
