Salve! I am an enthusiastic Classics teacher and tutor who loves to help students deepen their knowledge and understanding of the ancient world through its languages and cultures. I am passionate about the educational benefits of studying Latin, Classical Greek and Classical Civilisation. The ancient languages provide students with the opportunity to think logically, develop analytical skills and complement modern language learning, whilst Classical Civilisation provides a fascinating insight into the ancient world, allowing us to view societies critically, whether then or now. I would love to hear from you if you need support with your studies in Classics, regardless of whether you are just starting out, looking to learn something new, or studying for Common Entrance, GCSEs or A-Levels.

Availability: I am available for hourly slots every week night except a Monday, between 5-8pm. I can also do weekend sessions, at a time that suits you.

Experience: I am a fully-qualified Classics teacher with four years teaching experience. I completed a Latin with Classics PGCE in 2017-2018, following on from my studies. I have a BA in Classics from the University of Leeds and an MA in Roman History and Archaeology from the University of Kent. I currently teach at the Tiffin School in Kingston Upon Thames, where I teach Latin to students from Year 7 to Upper Sixth. I have also taught Classical Civilisation to GCSE and A-Level, focusing on Myth and Religion and Roman City Life at GCSE, and the Imperial Image and World of the Hero modules at A-Level. I studied Classical Greek at university too, and therefore will be able to help anyone looking for tuition for beginners Greek too.

As a teacher, it`s really important to me that my students feel confident in their own learning, and I can adapt my approach depending on the needs or desires of my students. I use a variety of technologies including PowerPoint, Quizlet, and Online Whiteboards. I tailor lessons to focus on what my students need to work on, whether that be factual recall, essay technique, vocab learning, grammar consolidation and/or translating skills. I use various resources to aid teaching, including the Cambridge Latin Course, John Taylor, Wiley`s Latin and Latin Stories.
