Information about Matthew J
I have tutored at Uni`s, colleges, schools, privately and managed group workshops across the creative arts (Film, TV, Stage and Media) for students of all ages to ignite flair and ambition in their chosen creative subject; Including film theory, writing, directing and producing, at all Levels (MA, Degree, A Level, A/S, GCSE and adult workshops).
As a commissioned screenwriter and producer I have released credits in; Film (cinema, festivals, Blu-ray/DVD and VOD), Theatre (plays held at Rhoda McGraw, Courtyard Theatre and New Victoria) and Books (two published fiction novels as MJ ). I am a full member of the Writers Guild of Great Britain, and listed on the film IMDB website database as Matthew J .
I believe this first hand experience is essential when tutoring students about all areas of the creative arts, be it theory, writing or filming. I am always happy to offer work experience to students wishing to gain production company and on set filming experience.
The workshops, courses and private / online tutoring I`ve run have been structured for students interested in learning all aspects of Film theory and film-making; including developing their own creative material, how to get there ideas to production companies and agents, and learning the key aspects of film theory for exams. I help students wanting to work in the media/film industry for future careers, or students wishing to complete a qualification, to those who wish to develop ideas in their leisure time.
I tutor towards students` creative ideals and the educational institutions course syllabus. I`ve continued to mentor students afterwards working with them to achieve their goals and be proud of what they create.
They key aspect when tutoring from my point of view is communication and collaboration, it requires hard work, dedication and full commitment from a tutor, all of which I`ve always prided myself on. I say to all new students `Believe in yourself, through dedication and hard work, you can achieve anything`.
Availability: I am available to tutor in person or on skype. Weekdays and weekends. At a time that suits the student.
