Information about Naomi

October 10th 2019 - I AM NOW FULL FOR 2019-2020

Hi, I am Naomi. I am a fully qualified Maths and sciences teacher. I have been tutoring Maths for over fifteen years but became a full time tutor six years ago. I have recently relocated to Havant in Hampshire where I work from my home-office and the local library and do not offer home visits. I teach the new 1-9 syllabus in Maths and the sciences as well as Common Entrance 11+ and 13+. I have worked with autistic children, especially students with Asperger’s Syndrome. I am available during the day so also teach several home educated students. For the first time this year I am presently teaching two adult learners who are completing their Functional Skills (Maths) Level 2 course.

As well as teaching I enjoy volunteering with a parent & toddler club, volunteering as an IT teacher in my local skills club, as a reading listener in my local library and walking by the sea (on a daily basis!) I am an avid reader of non-fiction, I love learning about new scientific theories and would probably be classed as a mad cat lady if I had a cat!

Experience: I have 25 years of teaching experience, which included being classed as an outstanding practitioner in my appraisals. I became a full time private tutor six years ago and have had many successes including students who have achieved significant improvements, such as a student who raised her result from a level 7 to a level 9 in Maths last year.

I am a very calm person and enjoy guiding my students through their work using supportive language and encouragement at all times. Most students I work with lack confidence in their own Maths/Science abilities. My knowledge of the National Curriculum and subject syllabi allows me to quickly identify areas of weakness, allowing me to tailor lessons to each pupil individually.

I believe that education changes lives and that every child should have access to the curriculum in their own style of learning, which will allow them to reach their full potential. My previous tutees are happy to recommend me and their successes are my best advert.
