I entered teaching over 10 years ago, after `retiring` from Programme installation management and a long career in IT in the days when software was cheap and hardware was expensive!
I retrained to teach English (CertTESOL) having already qualified to teach IT and have recently discovered I like teaching Maths. I also mentor apprentices and work as a `critical friend` for graduates.

Availability: Most weekdays (subject to other tutoring commitments)
Monday and Thursday evenings.
Weekends during daytime.

Experience: I have taught English as a Foreign Language / ESOL for 8 years, in colleges, Adult education classes and as a private tutor. I mostly teach Intermediate to Advanced in EFL with specialist Business English classes.
As a private tutor, I starting teaching GCSE Maths (Edexcel) and English (AQA mostly) for the 2017 exams - with success in raising predicted grades.
For the past 3 years I have taught English and Maths (Functional Skills, E3-L2) in a Work-based Learning environment which means tailoring resources to applicable and relevant work skills.
I have taught ICT (ECDL, ITQ to Level3, Functional Skills to L2) since I started teaching: mostly experienced in Microsoft Office applications, I have also taught targeted internet-based classes (using social media creating a website selling on-line, etc.).
Finally, I have taught Employability skills in Community Education initiatives.
I have worked as a mentor for managers in education and industry, and a `critical friend` to graduates undertaking Masters degrees.
