I am a mature lady with considerable experience of working with children, a maths graduate and in late 2014 spent some time studying for a PGCE (Secondary) Mathematics qualification. Since then I`ve been working as a private tutor and have many very happy customers, past and present.
I`m a good listener, very patient, good at getting to the heart of understanding what a child needs to know. Each child is a unique individual and deserves special treatment.
I really enjoy maths and I like to use visual methods to explain and bring the subject to life. Encouragement and praise for effort and achievement are very important. Objectives are also important, giving the child something to aim for and a time scale, appropriate to their own abilities.
I have a BSc(Hons)Mathematics (Upper second class) from the University of London.
Right now, due to the pandemic, I am teaching online via Zoom.

Experience: Private maths tutor (secondary level) since December 2014. I have taught a very wide range of students, at both GCSE and A level, some with special needs.
2 months Maths classroom experience as part of PGCE course, 2014 (observation, assisting pupils, small-group and full-class teaching)
3 years part-time volunteer Language Assistant at Glyn School, Epsom 2011-14, where I helped pupils to practise spoken French, assisted in the classroom and occasionally did assessments of their progress.
Volunteer tutor in basic computer skills, 6 months, Age Concern, Epsom 2013-14
Two sons with science Masters degrees, both tutored by me in mathematics when younger.
