Information about Tom
I am a friendly, enthusiastic and hard-working teacher who is currently the assistant headteacher and a class teacher at a primary school in Hampshire. I studied an undergraduate degree at Loughborough University, before undertaking my PGCE at the University of Southampton. I consistently set high expectations for my pupils and expect them to make good progress with their learning. I ensure that my lessons are engaging, motivating and enjoyable for pupils, and encourage all pupils to take pride in their learning.
Availability: I am currently available on Saturdays and Sundays between 9am and 6pm, as well as on weeknights between 5pm and 8pm.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I started my teaching career with a year in Year 5 (9 and 10 year olds), before moving to Year 6 (10 and 11 year olds). I have taught for four years in Year 6 and have achieved consistently impressive results. During my time in Year 6, between 91 and 94% of my pupils have achieved the expected standard for their age in Reading, Writing and Maths. Additionally, around 20% of my pupils have achieved `Level 6` in their Maths SATs. In 2014, 11 students (33% of the class) placed in the top 10% in the country for their Maths results.
Since joining my new primary school, I have taken on the role as assistant headteacher, as well as teaching in a Year 5 class for 3 days per week.
