Information about Michelle
Hello, I just completed my economics masters from University of Cambridge after achieving a First in maths from UCL. Coming to Glasgow alone at the age of 17, I achieved all As in my 3 Advanced Highers and 4 Highers.
I would like to teach Alevel/GCSE maths, further maths. Although I am lucky with my numeric skills, I understand science is not easy for everyone. Often pupils get stuck in a problem, but they can`t quite tell which part they do not understand. Then some teachers start losing patience.
I am here to patiently explain a maths question step by step, highlighting the difficult bits, making sure the knowledge they learned in a specific question become transferable. In addition, I will teach them some tricks in doing maths that I learned in China, but generally not taught in the UK to increase the speed of solving problems.
Availability: evening nights and weekends
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: - Teaching assistant for GCSE level maths at school
- Teaching/mentoring 1st year students when I was in my second year
Feedback For Michelle (1)
Michelle is proactive and engaging as a tutor. Despite my unconventional background (Cantonese speaker wishes to improve Mandarin) she was able to accommodate this and is doing a great job at the moment. Being able to share relevant background information on topics discussed (employment in China, women`s rights, one-child policy etc) was interesting as well.
