Using the instrument or/and music production tools, we will be strongly focusing on the relationship between you, your instrument and the theory behind it. At my private home studio, I encourage you to explore your creativity.

A bit about my qualifications.
I hold a bachelor in Music Production from Leeds College of Music. I have also qualifications in guitar and music theory and hold an enhanced DBS.

I teach all ages, all levels from beginners to advanced

I can prepare students for their music exams and college auditions upon request.

TOM EXCELL, guitarist and producer (Nubiyan Twist), renowned Brazilian percussionist PEU MEURRAY (Marisa Monte, Carlinhos Brown), masterclass with JAMIROQUAI’S BAND and guitarist GUTHRIE GOVAN.

My students vary in age, skill and commitment to their art. One thing they seem to share in common is their will to overcome limitations and expand on their creativity.

Personal message for students!
When we express ourselves we`re essentially exploring our character. Whatever your musical aim, I would be more than happy to work with you to achieve it, whether it is learning how to jam along with your favourite tunes, going through the grades, or diligently learning diatonic harmony and chord construction, we can do it!

Experience: What kind of experience do I have?

Teaching experience:

I have been teaching individual students of all levels and ages for the past 6 years. My students come from different backgrounds: Jazz, Pop, R&B, Gospel, Rock, Classical, Folk and Latin. I choose to approach lessons with an open mind and tailor it to the student individual needs.

I’m also an experienced group workshop leader. In collaboration with charity ‘Live Music Now’, I facilitate interactive workshops for a variety of people with myriad and complex requirements including educational and physical needs.

Professional experience:

I am a highly experienced guitarist, singer, percussionist and sample operator at various groups. Collaboration highlights include: Song writing and production for NINA MIRANDA (Smoke City), percussion, singer, guitarist and co-writer for NUBIYAN TWIST (Feat. on BBC 1Xtra & BBC radio 6) and backing vocals for BEBEL GILBERTO (London Fashion Week 2017).

Performance highlights include: Meltdown Festival (Queen Elizabeth Hall), Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Jazz Café (Camden), Band on the Wall (Manchester), supporting artists like Quantic, Robert Glasper and Hot 8 Brass Band.
