Experienced, enthusiastic and engaging tutor of English (literature, literacy and language)

I offer private tuition on a one-to-one basis, and small groups by arrangement, from Key Stage 1 (absolute beginners) to degree level I work with children, teenagers and adult learners.

I bring together the Cambridge supervision style and my own intuitive approach, as well as Waldorf Steiner and other alternative influences, to deliver sessions that are adapted to each student`s particular needs.

In the Cambridge style I use questions to get my tutees talking __ which is one of the best ways to develop thinking. When it comes to my own talking time I tend to aim high in order to inspire and challenge the student, instead of lowering the level for comfort. However, I take great care to build the tutee`s confidence and help them realise their own potential.

Availability: Weekday afternoons and evenings

Experience: I have now been tutoring for four years, racking up around 1500 hours of experience. As well as giving private tuition across a range of levels and subjects I have been a full-time teacher to four girls being home-schooled, have worked part-time in schools and community schools with classes and individuals.
