I am currently studying Geography (BA) at UCL. I have really enjoyed studying at A level and love reading for a degree. I have a broad range of knowledge, as I have read extensively.
I think home tutoring is a great way to get to understand a subject, because it gives you the freedom to be curious and ask questions as well as spend time on more difficult areas. From this, I would approach tutoring by finding the most interesting and effective way that the student learns, such as using mind maps or memory techniques (which is where my A-level in Psychology can be really useful), and pooling ideas together to come up with solutions. I am a very motivated learner and I hope to be able to share this enthusiasm with other students, as I think learning is not something to be done by rote from a textbook, but an exploration of the world around us.
Availability: I am very flexible, happy to arrange for whenever is convenient and to change times/days as needed. I`m available all weekend. During the week, late afternoon/evenings on Monday, Thursday and Friday Tuesdays and Wednesdays I am free all afternoon, and Wednesday evening.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have training as a mentor, working with members of sixth form in a volunteering programme. I have worked in study groups with members of my year both at GCSE and sixth form, where I helped tutor others in areas they found difficult. I have informally helped mentor a student in the year below me when at sixth form college (we still keep in contact). This was not subject-specific, but related more to forming the skills to cope with moving to a new sixth form college.Contact this Tutor
