Information about Andrea

Hi There! I am a native speaking teacher with CELTA qualification from UCL, seeking employment as ESL Instructor or Private Tutor. Two years teaching adults and international university students Academic English, as well as three and a half and years teaching and tutoring 11-18 year olds. Specialising in Academic English, Study Skills and Research Methods. Experience in teaching all levels from Beginners to Advanced and Special Needs Education. Capable of teaching one-to-one, small groups and large class rooms.

Do you need help with General ‘everyday’ English and Grammar, Academic English, Study Skills and Research Methods? I can help! Whether it`s to improve your IELTS level or help with a university assignment.

Experience in Cambridge Face 2 Face, Language for Study and Skills for Study teaching programs.

I am a fun, positive, engaging, nurturing and enthusiastic teaching style with consistent positive feedback from teachers and students.

I also have experience in teaching students with behavioural and emotional issues such as Autism, ADD and ADHD and specialised in teaching students with varying degree of Dyslexia with proven results at GCSE.

Having worked in a private college and a secondary school over the past few years, I prefer the attention I can give to students when I work with them on a one-to-one basis. I can see where the student is weakest and improve their results by personalising and adapting materials to suit them and their needs. I definitely think learning should be fun. I like taking learning off the page and creating different ways for students to learn. I also personalise my teaching style to the needs of my students and try to throw in a few jokes too.

I always manage to create good working relationships with my students. Really listening and connecting with my students builds trust and ultimately benefits them academically. Creating a nurturing and positive working environment not only benefits the students in their education, but also builds their confidence to flourish in other aspects of their life regardless of their age.

There is no greater feeling than seeing a student succeed and knowing you helped them in that victory- however big or small. That is why I find tutoring so incredibly satisfying and fulfilling.
