Information about Molly
I am currently studying English and German Literature at the University of Oxford, having taken my A Levels last year and achieved A*s in all three. Although I am away from London during term-time for this reason, I am happy to do online video-call tutoring and I am back for the holiday periods (1st December 2018 to 6th January 2019, 9th March 2019 to 24th April 2019.)
I love reading and analysing literature and will be more than happy to thoroughly read, research and explore whichever texts you/your daughter/son are studying. I have an in-depth knowledge of the GCSE and A-Level specifications, having taken both recently myself, and I am well-equipped to read and assist with essay technique.
I believe I am able to communicate my enthusiasm and use it to encourage tutees - even those who are less than keen on English!
Availability: I am entirely flexible with times and days when I am in London. (See above) However, when I am not in London I am also available for online video-call tutoring!
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I tutored a student in English Literature and English Language for the new specification GCSE last year and she got a 9 in both subjects. Together we studied Macbeth, Jekyll & Hyde and An Inspector Calls. I helped her with structuring a high-level essay, understanding the text on a deeper, thematic level and with revision technique.
In school, I volunteered as an English mentor for a year 10 student, helping her with her essay writing and language analysis skills.
I am currently a voluntary tutor for an EAL pupil in year 1, as part of Oxford`s Jacari charity scheme. This involves planning weekly lessons, setting targets and working on their spoken skills, reading, writing, vocabulary and confidence!
I have also tutored in GCSE maths, helping a year 10 student last summer with topics that were causing difficulty.
Finally, I have done voluntary work experience in primary schools in both London and Germany, working with younger children as a classroom assistant.
