Information about Sarah

*** Art to GCSE level, including help with portfolios, private sessions or weekly art classes in small groups ***

About me:
I am an experienced tutor who has worked with many learners of varying abilities. As well as more able and gifted learners I have taught those with special needs, including ADD, autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia. A key aim is to help my students develop confidence and an enthusiasm for learning.

Everyone is an individual and assessed according to their needs so that lessons can be adapted and planned appropriately for optimum results. Discovering how each person learns is a priority for me, meaning that lessons are effective, understandable and progressive.

I am a tutor because I am passionate about each child, or young adult, achieving their full potential, making the most of their time in education and ensuring they can be the best they can be.

During the course of my tutoring, I have developed and fine-tuned extensive teaching resources and also work with past exam papers, where necessary.

I teach:

* art to GCSE level, including help with portfolios, private sessions or
* weekly primary art classes, individual or in small groups, with limited places.
* interior design to adults

More about…..

FINE ART CLASSES FOR CHILDREN, aged 4-12:
* Enhance visual perception
* Develop motor skills
* Boost spatial thinking
* Develop a life-long love of art
* See improvements in children`s reading and maths
* Develop knowledge including the history of art
* Make art fun
* Learn about different artists and their work
* Raise confidence, install self-esteem
* Stimulate the imagination
* Help children believe in their own abilities.

Art is essential for an all-round education. My young artists gain improved concentration skills and learn to focus, order and sequence, which gives them essential tools they need to equip them for future learning.

FINE ART CLASSES (Waiting list if fully booked.)

Drawing is a key skill that should be learned by all children. These structured lessons are non-competitive and non-judgmental where children learn there is no wrong way to draw and that everybody can be successful. My teaching methods have proved to develop greater confidence and skill as well as benefit children in areas other than art, including problem solving skills, mathematics, reading levels, social skills and self esteem, proving that art is vital to children for a fully rounded education. Test findings showed as much as a 20 per cent increase in reading and maths scores with this type of art tuition. Drawing is a natural human response and in my classes this skill is nourished and nurtured.

In my art classes children learn to focus and concentrate. Parents and carers are often astounded at the difference in a child`s artistic work after attending just one session.

Beginning art classes at an early age is beneficial as there is a natural decline in most children`s confidence in art and drawing as they approach the ages of 8 or 9, which I seek to address with methods that help children overcome this obstacle. I love watching "my" children`s self esteem soar, along with their artistic development.

`Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.“ - Pablo Picasso

5/5 Rating

Sarah has been helping our son with Art GCSE and had given him some invaluable and refreshing ideas as well as helping with him new techniques. All of this has been remotely - which we have not found to be a barrier to learning and understanding - Sarah has excellent ways of getting her ideas across despite not meeting face to face as yet.
