I am Leanne . I have been working with students across a wide range of ages and abilities for over 10 years. I am experienced in working with students with special educational needs including Autism and ADHD.


I am a graduate of Staffordshire University having read Forensic Science and obtained a BSc(Hons) in 2009. I currently work part time at Newcastle-under-Lyme College as a Learner Support Assistant, as well as working as a cover teacher across secondary and middle schools in staffordshire. I specialise in tutoring students in Science, however I can also provide tuition in health and social care, psychology and study skills.

My approach to tutoring is that I tailor my tuition to the needs of the student. I will tutor in my own home or that of the student. I will vary my style depending on the ability and needs of the student. I aim to run my tuition in support of the progression of my students through their subject syllabus, but I am also willing to progress more slowly and focus on particularly weak areas if the student so desires. I will also offer pre-exam revision sessions for all exams including modular resits and conduct end of topic tests and mock exams should the student desire.


As I aim to tailor my tuition to the individual I expect students to maintain regular contact in regards to their subject progressions and their individual needs. I expect students to arrive at tuition sessions with a clear idea of what it is they hope to get from the sessions.


I will provide each student with a progress log and detailed feedback on how they are performing and areas where they need to improve, I may also set work for my students to complete outside of sessions and for this set work I will offer a marking service.


I am happy to meet with the parents or guardians of my students prior to the commencement of tuition in order to ascertain what they wish their child to gain from tuition. I am also happy to meet with parents and guardians regularly during the tuition period to discuss their child`s progress and if required I am happy to provide parents with written reports on their child`s progress.

Experience: I have previously worked as a tutor for GCSE and A-Level English, A-Level Psychology and A-Level and Degree Level Biology.

I was employed by AimHigher as an Associate teacher during my time at university working in schools to teach gifted and talented students key skills and study skills and assisting them with relevant information regarding both academic and non academic paths for educational and career development.

I have previously worked in Health and Social Care in the position of Senior Support Worker and Deputy Unit Manager in this role I was responsible for the tuition and mentoring of new staff in line with the CQC initial standards for care and have a depth of experience in mentoring individuals in various areas of elderly care with a special interest in elderly mentally infirm (EMI) and dementia care.

I am currently working in schools throughout Stoke-on-Trent as a cover teacher providing short term cover for absent teachers covering lessons in a wide range of secondary subjects with pupils aged 11-18. I also work part time as a learner support assistant at Newcastle-under-Lyme

I have experience of working with a wide range of individuals including those with Special Educational Needs including Autism, Aspergers and ADHD.
