Physics can often seem like a daunting subject, but my methods allow the student to break down a seemingly complex subject into understandable core principles and teaches them to utilise these key concepts to tackle the problems that exam boards will set.
I am a qualified Science and Maths teacher who offers patient and inspiring private tuition at secondary level.
Having not too long ago finished education myself and more recently studied for a PGCE in Secondary science (specialising in Physics with Maths) at the University of Manchester, I have an excellent knowledge the current school curriculum. I tutor Physics from KS3 to A-Level and Maths and the other sciences at KS3 and GCSE.
My sessions are carefully planned and I work with each student to assess their needs and their learning style to tailor engaging and productive sessions. These sessions will be paced and planned to work alongside the students school curriculum, but also offer the flexibility to revisit or focus specifically on areas of need, as they arise.
I offer a free consultation to all new students. This is only a short sit down and chat, to establish small details such as expected grades, exam boards and booking time slots.
My passion for teaching was initially sparked when I undertook a yearlong University placement while studying undergraduate Physics at Loughborough University. For this placement, I moved to Malaysia for a year to teach Physics and English in a Malaysian School (Grammar school equivalent). I quickly found my methodical and patient personality, coupled with my enthusiasm for the subject had a positive effect on students and upon completing my Physics degree I then studied for a PGCE in secondary science at the University of Manchester.
My experience teaching abroad and training in ethnically diverse Manchester schools has versed me well in methods that unlock the best development in EAL (English as an Additional Language) students, and students of all levels of attainment.
More recently my adventurous side has taken over and I have travelled extensively in Latin America and lived, worked and travelled in Australia.
My other interests apart from the obvious lust for travel include photography, climbing mountains, playing cricket and developing my mediocre Spanish.
