Information about Gordon

*** Please note I am now fully booked for any evening tuition until June 2019 ***
Over the past ten years I have been very successful in aiding over 40 tutees to significantly exceed their targets, typically from a starting point well below target. The majority have been GCSE candidates but I have also tutored AS & A level Maths, KS3 and adults (teacher training QTS skills tests, Royal Naval Officer Entrance exams, nursing numeracy qualifications). I have also tutored to US syllabus.
I have also taken a student through to gain success in Harrow School entrance exams.
I understand the challenges that teachers have in secondary school in providing individual attention. I can bridge that gap to provide the confidence for students to excel.
My main job is as a BTEC Assessor (up to Level 5) and over the past 25 years have provided IT training to blue chip companies. Due to my background in writing documentation for IT companies, I am also able to provide extra help to the explanatory side of mathematics which has been given more emphasis in recent years.

Availability: I am now fully booked for evening tuition until June 2019.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have been successfully providing tuition to students with a range of abilities including those with learning difficulties since 2010. I am highly skilled at working with individuals and small groups (withdrew from PGCE due to difficulties with large classes). Prior to undertaking PGCE, long career in IT industry following degree in Maths/IT subject (Operational Research with Computing) - this included much end-user training.
Most demand tends to be for GCSE students, but I also tutor from year 7, A level and adults, including numeracy exams for QTS, Royal Navy and nursing. I have also tutored for an American syllabus. I am also a BTEC standards verifier for Pearson/Edexcel.

Gordon was our first choice and answered within an hour of contacting him, he was available (by sheer chance thankfully) the next day and we now use him twice a week. My 17 yr old son looks forward to theses sessions and gets on well with Gordon. His teaching techniques seem to be helping my son immensely and I wouldn`t hesitate in referring Gordan to anyone!

Gordon is helping my daughter to achieve her full potential in her GCSE exams. Gordon is a teacher that has a natural ability to teach. My daughter was apprehensive before his first visit, but was soon put at ease by Gordon, with his vast experience in teaching he had an immediate understanding of her abilities and focusing on her weaknesses has made a significant improvement in her knowledge of the subject and a `step change` in her target grades. I would have no hesitation in asking Gordon to help my younger child in his GCSE years, the extra one to one support that Gordon offers is invaluable. Thank you.
