________________________________________________________________________________-

Hello, my name is Emma and I am a PhD-level scientist with four years` experience tutoring degree-level physics. I also have over two years of experience in privately tutoring KS3, GCSE, and A-level students in science and maths.

I have a doctorate in Astrophysics from the University of Edinburgh, and a Masters in Physics with Astrophysics (1st class top graduating mark). I am currently working as a tutor in Cambridge and I have room for additional students.

I am an enthusiastic and patient tutor, and I believe that empathy is very important for helping students to learn. I try to put myself in their shoes and remember what it felt like when I was struggling to get my head around a topic, and guide students to understanding by using the Socratic method (asking questions to get them to think). I am also able to help with general exam preparation.

I have professional experience as a technical author, and can also help with proof-reading essays/dissertations.

I have an up-to-date DBS check and references available. I can travel within walking/cycling distance of the city centre to tutor at your house or another location, and I offer online tutoring if that is more convenient. I am flexible on tutoring times, so please drop me a line if you think I might be able to help you, or your son or daughter.

Availability: Flexible - daytime, evening and weekends

Willing to travel: 2 miles

Experience: I have four years` experience tutoring and demonstrating degree-level physics, and three years` experience in privately tutoring secondary school level and A-level students in science and maths.

Emma helped my son understand some concepts in Maths in an easy to understand way. He said he found he could put the knowledge to use straight away in his weekly tests.

Able to make a very prompt and convenient arrangement, Emma is keen and interested to meet our daughters tutoring needs and has a flexible approach. She has an encouraging manner and appears mindful of preserving and boosting confidence. (Tutoring for AS level Physics and Maths).
