Information about Austin

I am a qualified physics teacher, holding a PGDipEd in secondary education, and an honorary lecturer at the University of Birmingham. I hold a PhD in theoretical physics which follows my first class Master`s degree, both from the University of Birmingham.

I am a skilled mathematician and physicist and can confidently teach all age ranges including GCSE and A Level. I have taught in several schools in the Birmingham area as a science teacher over the past few years. As a recently trained teacher, I have the most up to date knowledge of curricula and teaching practices which means my tuition focuses on essential areas for development.

I have had numerous successes working with children from different backgrounds and year groups. For learners who need support to achieve their target grades, I will work with them to assess areas for development and, through careful questioning and explanations, will guide them towards success. For learners who are already confident and want to explore the most challenging side of their subjects, I will use my extended knowledge of the subjects and curricula to push them towards the top grades and prepare them for the next level of study.

In addition to working as a tutor, I maintain a diversified professional portfolio in the education sector. I am involved in teaching at the University of Birmingham and support mathematics courses in the foundation degree for engineering and physical sciences. I also work in educational technology as a software developer for a company who are innovating digital assessment. My multifaceted approach to my career means I can draw on many different experiences to enhance my teaching practice.

Kind, generous, knowledgable, capable if only my school teacher had been like him.
