I am an Oxford University mathematics graduate and experienced maths teacher who enjoys teaching all levels of student. This includes 11-plus applicants, the new GCSE specification, A-level, further maths and STEP paper applicants. I am easy to get on with and aim for a tutorial that combines a relaxed atmosphere with a clear structure and a sense of purpose. I pride myself on my ability to motivate students and believe that regularly highlighting to the student the progress they are making is a great way of doing this. Although I have spent the past six years teaching in local secondary schools I have always kept up a certain amount of private tutoring and enjoy the impact a teacher can have during regular one to one sessions. I have recently taken a sabbatical from classroom teaching to continue my own education, and it is for this reason I am able to commit more time to private tutoring.

Experience: I graduated from Oxford University with a 2:1 in Mathematics in 2002 and obtained a PGCE in secondary school mathematics from Oxford University in 2011. I have 6 years’ experience as a secondary school maths teacher in schools including Cherwell School in Oxford and Wallingford School. I have taught all ability levels and to all ages with a particular focus on the most able. I was timetabled all the further maths classes at my previous school obtaining strong results with each class. I also taught weekly STEP preparation classes to students who were planning to take this exam and study maths at University. I have plenty of experience tutoring both before becoming a qualified maths teacher and during my career and have had much success helping students achieve their goal.
