Information about Charlotte

I was lucky enough to obtain a bursary, which ald me to study at one of the top girls` schools in the county. I understand that not everyone will have the same opportunities that were afforded to me, therefore, I would like to use my education to help others.
I did not always love maths, in fact for the first few years of high school I struggled with it. However, in Year 9, I was blessed to be taught by an inspiring teacher. She took the time to explain concepts and always answered my questions, no matter how silly I thought they were. I was incredibly lucky that this same teacher taught me for both GCSEs and Alevels.
I always use her methods as the basis for my tutoring. I usually make my own work sheets that provide a short explanation and then a large amount of practice questions on the topic, which I use both in sessions and then allow the student to work through in their own time.
There are not a huge number of practice tests available online as the 9-1 is still a relatively new specification. Therefore, I leave those tests for a time closer to the exam for timed practice. Instead, I use topic tests to practice exam technique and for students to become familiar with the exam style questions. I find that these are better for practicing topics as they have a wider range of questions on a specific topic than past papers do. This helps me, and the student, to understand where in a topic we need to work on and what resources I should provide next.
I love maths now and I love showing others how great maths can be!

Availability: As a gap year student, I am flexible with the hours I can work. Just let me know what hours suit you and I will try my best to accommodate you.

Willing to travel: 4 miles

Experience: I used volunteer at a local high school encouraging the pupils to achieve their potential. This role helped me to keep up to date with the curriculum and gives me an insight into the common problems students encounter in their understanding of a subject.
Whilst in sixth form, I also volunteered with a primary school where I helped prepare children for high school by increasing their confidence across a range of subjects.
At GCSE, I achieved: 9 in maths and A^ (an A* with distinction) in further maths, as well as achieving great grades in other subjects.
At A Level, I took maths, biology and chemistry. I achieved A*AA (with the A* in maths).
