Information about Gabrielle

Hello my name is Gabrielle and I`m a second year Primary Education M/ed student at the University of Winchester, who is currently stuck at home, and really misses teaching! I am a very imaginative educator, who believes that every lesson should have the opportunity for creativity and fun! I have the most experience and expertise in teaching Primary School aged children, but I believe my experience as a 1-1 tutor at university and my wide range of GCSE and A Levels would qualify me to mentor up to GCSE level as well.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, I have a lot of time to commit to my students and I will plan unique lessons and work to suit you or your child`s individual schedule and preferences.

Availability: I am currently available for online tutoring at any time during the week, so am very happy to work around your schedule.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: Through my degree and other volunteering opportunities, I have worked with many Primary aged children from a variety of schools. This includes a small village school of 90 pupils and a large city school of 600 students. This range of opportunities has exposed me to many different teaching strategies and I know that every child will have a method that works best for them. In my university lectures and seminars, I have received expert, up to date, knowledge in subjects including the most effective ways to teach reading comprehension; working with children with SEN and breaking down mathematical concepts into manageable steps. My ongoing teaching degree also allows me access to hundreds of resources through my university website.

Furthermore, for the last year, I have been employed by my university as a SMART tutor and, through personalised 1-1 meetings, I have helped students improve their degree grade by mentoring them on their academic skills. This includes helping people improve their written communication, presentation skills, time management and professional practice.

I have also had incredible opportunities to teach children in locations outside the classroom. This includes working with the Education department at Marwell Zoo, teaching children about Biology and Conservation, and at an outdoor activity centre in the New Forest, teaching about the outdoors and team building.
