Information about Rachael
I am an experienced and highly educated tutor of English, Art and Film/Media, with specialism in autism, special educational needs and working with Looked After Children. I teach these subjects up to GCSE, A Level and Undergraduate degree level. I have a first class honours degree and masters degree in Film from the University of Southampton, as well as a masters degree in Psychoanalysis from UCL. I can teach both of these subjects to adult learners from undergraduate level and higher.
I can also teach `emotional literacy` and social awareness to pupils for whom this is particularly difficult. I am trained to write social stories and comic-book conversations, which help autistic pupils to understand social situations and to conduct themselves with others and in the community in such a way that prevents them from becoming overwhelmed and overstimulated.
Availability: I am flexible and available during the day, evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I currently teach and care for children and adolescents with severe and enduring emotional and behavioural needs, associated with childhood trauma, in a therapeutic residential setting. I am particularly adept at teaching pupils with autism and special educational needs. I have taught in a specialist SEN school, where I was a co-teacher to Art and English classes, as well as Communication classes which taught pupils with autism practical communication strategies. I have Master of Science and a Master of Arts degrees and a Bachelor of Arts with 1st Class Honours. I have 3 A levels and 1 AS Level, as well as 10 GCSEs A*-C including Maths, Double Science, English Literature and Language (A.A*) and Art & Design GNVQ (Distinction*).
