Information about Chloe

I recently graduated from Warwick University with a 2.1 in English Literature. Warwick is an exceptional university, and was named Times University of the Year in September 2014. The Warwick English Department ranks consistently high in university league tables and is a modern, innovative department. My university education has made me an excellent student of English, and has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to tutor GCSE and A-Level English students and to help them achieve their full potential.

During my time at university, I taught an independent module to A-Level students as part of a university outreach programme, and received extensive training to enable me to meet the varied needs of my students and to present engaging and effective lessons and to support all of my students fully.

Throughout studying for my A-Levels, I co-hosted a book club for students who struggle to read, and helped on a one-to-one basis with other such students, to enable them to develop not only their skills, but also their confidence. I also taught Politics to classes from Years 7- 12, so I have a wide range of experience.

I have also tutored the children of family friends to enable them to pass entrance exams and get into top secondary schools, having gone through this process myself, and would be happy to offer this tutoring to others.

I understand the need to acknowledge the needs and abilities of different students, and as a tutor, will always ensure that sessions are tailored to the varying learning styles of each individual, something that cannot always be done in a large classroom setting.

My high level of education in English and my varied teaching experience make me well-equipped to provide an excellent standard of tuition to help you achieve to the very highest of your ability.

Experience: * Transformations University Outreach Programme- Teaching an independent module of English Literature to A-Level students as part of a programme to encourage them to apply to university, as well as improving their writing skills, their English Skills, and their confidence.

*Teaching Politics to students throughout secondary school- as part of a Schools Question Time competition, I taught politics to students across my secondary school

*Entrance Exam tutoring- I have tutored younger students in things like verbal and non-verbal reasoning to help them achieve highly in entrance exams and secure places at top secondary schools.

*Reading Mentor/ Book Club- I was a one-to-one reading mentor and also hosted a group book club at my secondary school for younger girls who had been identified by SEN staff and English teachers as students who were struggling with reading. In both settings, I worked to improve the skills of these students, their confidence in reading, particularly in reading aloud, and their understanding of the material that they were reading.
