Information about Bruce

Native Mandarin Speaker with fluent spoken English and intermediate Arabic skill

As a qualified teacher, I gained a secondary PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages specialized in Mandarin Chinese from the Institute of Education.

I specialize in teaching professionals who want to improve their Mandarin for work since I have 3+ years working experience in business so I could help you with gaining knowledge on communication, negotiation and networking.

Also, I am experienced in teaching school-aged students, especially those who look to gain qualifications in GCSE, A-level and other academic certificates.

I have sufficient experience in teaching Mandarin as a foreign language with different age groups ranging from 10 to 40.

Here are some testimonials from my previous clients:

“Bruce was a great teacher. He taught through interaction and was always keen on having the element of fun in his classes, making it an educational and enjoyable experience.” – Basil A. from the Royal Kingdom of Jordan, aged 15 years

“Yifu is a great Chinese teacher. During my stay in China (Jan 2012 - Mar 2013), we met a lot and he helped me practice oral Chinese. He gave more some tools to speak Chinese in everyday life and made me more confident. I strongly recommend him.” – Martin K. from France, aged 27 years

“Bruce`s aptitude for clearly explaining the complex grammatical features of Mandarin to a non-native speaker makes him a truly outstanding teacher. He transforms the often-grueling study of Chinese into a real pleasure, and rekindles a student`s interest at every turn. His technical proficiency is matched only by his limitless patience and good humour. He`s an invaluable asset to any language faculty. ” – Edward C. from England, aged 26 years

“Bruce was a well-liked member of staff and had a positive relationship with the students, which was based on mutual respect. His classes were delivered and run effectively and students had confidence in his knowledge and ability to prepare them fully and help develop the necessary skills to do well.

He showed initiative in the thorough planning his own teaching materials and creating his own scheme of work to deliver the syllabus. He ensured his resources and notes were relevant to the course and useful and understood by students. Homework was always assessed helpfully and returned promptly.

Bruce was a committed and motivated member of staff with an excellent attendance and punctuality record. He was always willing to assist and support students beyond the classroom if they faced difficulties. We would certainly employ him again and are happy to recommend him to other institutions.” - Ms. Alison B, Deputy Dean of a sixth form college in London
