Information about Emma

I am a highly experienced and qualified teacher of English Language and Literature.
I have taught for 25 years in a variety of schools in England.
I have run an English Department and been a Deputy Head in a school in Kent( 11-18 years)
I have taught English and Literature at GCSE and ‘A’ level and always produced outstanding results.
I have been an examiner for AQA,Edexcel and WJEC so know how exam boards operate and exactly what students need to do to succeed in their exams.
Throughout my teaching career I have tutored students of all ages and abilities in order to help them achieve their potential in English. I have helped students as young as 6 to students as old as 60. They have all succeeded.

Availability: Currently 3pm onwards Mon-Frid
10am on Saturday and Sunday

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: TUTORING APPROACH
The most important thing for me is to identify areas for development to help students progress. It is usually clear quickly what is most important to improve, whether it be the creativity of responses, the structure of the work, firming up subject knowledge or understanding the examinations themselves (or all of the above!) In most instances, I will spend most of the first hour assessing the student`s current abilities through reading passages and discussion and looking through school work (if available). I usually then debrief the parents and student and will design an individual plan to match your needs.
I have a strong knowledge of AQA, OCR, EdExcel and Cambridge syllabi both for GCSEs and IGCSEs and at AS and A2 level. Tutoring sessions will cover key skills needed
Whatever your problem I can help, whatever your grade I’ll improve it.

I am expert at using assessment for learning and making sure that students walk away from every session with a clear understanding of how they can improve and progress, which helps them feel very positive about the whole process.

I will use a series of strategies including exemplars, unseen and seen texts, examination papers and media and ICT based learning, too.
My rate of £35 an hour for ‘A’ level is reasonable and I charge £30 an hour for all other ages and abilities.
If you want to use me as a tutor and I live too far away then we can Skype.I reduce the price to £25 an hour for this.
If you wish I am happy to teach small groups of up to 4.Contact me for details for this.

Paid for Emma`s details after much discussion and confirmation of availability.
We agreed a starting date, which was cancelled by Emma the night before gone 10pm. The same happened again for the following session. With finally Emma messaging me saying she could no longer teach and would provide a refund, which she didn`t. Thankfully Tutorhunt provided the details for the next tutor free of charge.
