I am currently studying Actuarial Science at The London School of Economics, having just completed my second year currently on course for a first-class honour. Actuarial science applies mathematical skills to the social sciences to solve various complex problems we may face. Hence, throughout my studies I have obtained a depth of understanding for various mathematical techniques which develop on from the A level syllabus.
From my personal experience I believe independent thinking and taking a logical approach is the most effective way to be successful in maths. So, when teaching I would place great importance on comprehension and encourage my students to thoroughly understand the material being taught, which I believe is the key to succeeding in exam conditions - boosting confidence and speed. Nonetheless, I also understand the importance of good exam technique when trying to tackle any exam question and I will supply my students with the necessary toolset to confront any question they may face.
Through mentoring various students in the past, I know each individual student is unique and is best taught with varying techniques. I have an enthusiastic tuition style designed to keep my students of varying abilities engaged. I endeavour to convey concepts from different angles until the student has a thorough understanding of the subject at hand.
