I have been tutoring two years, having attained a 2.1 degree in English from Cambridge University. I have tutored a wide range of students from different backgrounds and with varying levels of abilities.
I have had excellent feedback, with all of my tutees having attained the grades that they desired at SATS, GCSE and A-Level.
I have also prepared six students for secondary school entrance exams and interviews, all of whom made it into their first choice school.
I am fully familiar with the English syllabus, what is required of a student at every level and how various exam boards approach the subject (I am most familiar with AQA, Edexcel, IGCSE and OCR). However, I am not prescri ptive in my teaching style, rather I will tailor lessons to the individual, finding out what approach to learning will best fit the tutee and allow them to fully develop their own interests.
Although I am very able to teach subjects to examination specifications, my personal belief is that learning ought to be an enriching and edifying experience. I try to make students see the value in their subject, over and above the grade they are aiming for.
I believe that too often schools are made to teach these subjects in a stilted and prescri ptive way. Students are often left with the impression that there`s little more to the process of learning than jumping through hoops. That`s not to say that exam results aren`t important, but that their importance lies in where they can lead you that they are a way into fostering a deep appreciation and love of a subject, whatever that subject is.
Availability: My schedule fills up fairly quickly, however I do try to fit each client into the most convenient spot for them.

Experience: I have been tutoring for a two years working through agencies as well as procuring clients myself. I have tutored a large number of students from Key Stage One to A-Level. Though I have mainly tutored in English, my degree subject, I have also tutored students in History, Philosophy and Maths.
I also have in-school experience having worked for six months within the SEN department of Holland Park School.
