Information about Ritika
Hi, I am a first-year student studying Architectural Environment Engineering at the University of Nottingham. I specialise in maths, physics and french. In my spare time, I play chess nationally and internationally as well as badminton at a county level. Chess majorly contributed towards my problem-solving skills, recognising patterns and creative thinking. At times, we need to think of several moves in advance to calculate. These skills are transferable and help approach a problem with an imaginative and patient mindset whether you are in an exam or a chess game!
Availability: I am free most weekdays.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have taught the above-mentioned subjects to several GCSE students as well as primary school students in my local community. Furthermore, teaching children professionally in the Nottinghamshire County Chess Association as well as personal chess coaching showed me the different learning curves each student experiences depending on their pace and understanding. I believe it is not the content necessarily that makes a subject interesting but the teachers that present the lesson. My aim is to teach my students how to mould their thought process according to the nature of the problem. Every lesson is structured in a simple way: starter activity, main lesson content, do-it-yourself activity and a final review/homework setup. Having personal experience of learning through lockdown during COVID-19, I can imagine how difficult it must be for students to find the motivation and achieve their target grades. I want to do everything my teachers didn`t do for me for my students and execute a personalised plan that will guarantee success.
