Information about Abbie
I provide bespoke English GCSE & A-Level tutoring. In addition to this, having taught in the primary sector for a number of years, I also offer general KS2 & KS3 subjects, including math and science. During my 12 years in education, I have provided coordinated support for students with additional support needs, managed LSA`s and led departmental teams, across three schools.
During our 1:1 sessions, learners of all ages and abilities are supported to improve their English skills, gaining in confidence and developing their enjoyment of the subject.I understand that humour has it place in learning.
My students benefit from my exclusive resource hub and over 500, high quality, KS2, KS3, GCSE and Functional Skills resources, all designed around the current exam objectives.
All GCSE/iGCSE English Language and Literature topics are covered including:
- Analysis of Fiction and Non-Fiction texts
- Descri ptive and Narrative writing
- 19th Century and Modern Prose
- Speaking and Listening
- Revision and Exam Technique
English is a skills-based subject; there isn`t a lot of `fact-learning` as such, but a skill that needs to be nurtured, honed and practiced continually if it is to improve. Therefore, my service includes compulsory homework/revision tasks, resulting in better exam results. It is important to me that tutees gain the full benefit from our sessions, therefore, new clients are accepted on this agreement. Ability is irrelevant; a good attitude and a desire to achieve individual potential all that I ask.
I am a positive and enthusiastic person but apply a `no nonsense` approach to learning; I feel that I have a natural affinity and afford easy relationships with the students that I teach, allowing them to feel motivated into reaching their full potential. I believe that each child is an individual and as such apply a personalised approach to their education, finding the method that best suits them. I have been graded as an outstanding teacher, in my recent Ofsted inspection, and am always looking to improve and develop my teaching strategies to provide both engaging and rewarding lessons.
