Even before I graduated with a degree in Performing Arts, the theatre has been my burning passion. When I was a teenager, my favourite musical was `Evita`. I made the journey down to London, from Derbyshire, umpteen times to see it. Little did I know that just a few years later, I would be performing in that very production myself; a long-held dream achieved! For a further decade, I worked as a professional actor, singer, dancer in West-End and National Touring productions including ANNIE, the late Harold Prince`s version of EVITA and Richard O`Brien`s THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW to name but a few. Working in other theatre departments, such as Stage Management, Wardrobe, Front of House, Box Office and a three-year tenure as Stage Door Keeper at the Noel Coward Theatre, provided me with an appreciation and a broader understanding of how technical theatre operates. Crucially, this experience has enriched my instruction, allowing me to teach technical theatre with confidence and pass on traditional theatre etiquette.

I began teaching 25 years ago. For me, it was the singular, most gratifying decision I have ever made. What more could I wish for than the privilege of directing my passion and knowledge of theatre to inspire young people today.

During my teaching career, I have held several managerial roles: Subject Leader for Drama, Creative Arts Course Leader and a member of the Senior Leadership Team at the ArtsEd Conservatoire, Chiswick, then 17 years as Head of the Creative Arts Faculty at Ibstock Place School in Roehampton. Branching out with my own tutoring business, A* Drama Tuition, seemed the next logical step.

The knowledge and experience I have gained from working in professional theatre, combined with my two decades of classroom expertise and exam-focused teaching, are my unique selling points. This broad and very specialised career expertise has provided me with solid foundations to launch my own tutoring business, where I can continue to help students succeed. I am reliable, supportive and encouraging. I understand the pressures that learning at GCSE and A-Level present, especially the impact they can have on a young person`s self- confidence. I have the knowledge, experience and patience needed to unleash your child`s potential.

Experience: Following 10 years working as a professional actor in musical theatre, I began teaching at a specialist drama school, ArtEd, in Chiswick, London. I was Subject Leader for Drama and Expressive Arts, then became Head of the Creative Arts Course and latterly Senior Leader of the school. In 2002, I moved to Ibstock Place School in Roehampton, where I was Head of the Creative Arts Faculty. I taught GCSE and A-Level Drama during that time and gained enormous experience and expertise in the process. I led my faculty through 4 inspections and was classified an `outstanding` teacher. Today, I continue to teach in school but on a part-time basis, so I may dedicate time to building up my small tutoring practice, which operates from a beautiful garden studio at my home in Wandsworth.
