Information about La Shan
*COVID-19 UPDATE* I am offering online sessions to help students studying English at home. I can teach the National Curriculum from Year 7- Year 11 which may be helpful in preparing students for their next academic year once schools reopen.
I am passionate about education and encouraging children to reach their full potential through learning. I believe in an approach that is friendly, patient and tailored to the students needs.
In addition I have worked in secondary schools as a teachers assistant and tuition centres as a tutor and am very familiar with the National Curriculum for English from Year 7 - Year 11. I am also very knowledgable on the GCSE papers for both English Language and English Literature and the key texts. In my current role as a teachers assistant I run an intervention for students striving to achieve their GCSE targets for English Language.
Also, I have completed an A-Level in English Literature and have a GCSE level qualification for English Language and English Literature.
Availability: Evenings on the weekdays, weekends all day and school holidays.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have worked as a teachers assistant in two secondary schools supporting students aged 11-16 with English Language and English Literature. La Shan has been so helpful in aiding our daughter to improve her English before her GCSEs, shown in her improved grades. The effort she made for the lessons was always evident, whether through the extracts, knowledge on the set texts, revision worksheets or practice questions. She was very informed, for example being familiar with the examiner mark scheme. It was very helpful to have her there to practice responding to questions, as well as a range of other activities such as annotating, planning and character or theme summaries. She is also very friendly and bright and so lessons were enjoyable. We would definitely recommend La Shan as a tutor if you need some extra guidance with English.
