Information about Jack
My name is Jack and I am teaching English and Mathematics at a Primary School Level up to and including year 6.
I am studying Philosophy (MA Hons) at the University of Edinburgh, but I will be doing a year abroad at UC Berkeley next year. I attended King`s College School Wimbledon, gaining 10 A*s and 1A in the IGCSE exams, as well as 666 at HL in Philosophy, Economics and Spanish in the International Baccalaureate.
Philosophy of Teaching: I am a patient, friendly teacher and aim to engage the student in every lesson. I believe that all students are unique and react well to a particular lesson style. Therefore, I will adapt to the format that your child prefers. Before the lesson, I would ask the parents to send the syllabus and any particular areas of concern [contact detail removed]. I can then structure the lessons around this. I assign homework to my students after each lesson, which I would like them to complete in their own time and email me so that I can mark it before the next lesson (unless specifically requested not to do so). I would then explain any queries regarding the homework in the following lesson.
NOTE: Due to COVID-19, all lessons will be online.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: As a pupil at King`s College School, Wimbledon, I volunteered to teach children cricket at Falconbrook Primary School every Friday afternoon during my penultimate year. This has given me an insight as to how to work with children and structure lesson plans. I have also informally tutored children in Mathematics and English at a Primary School level, once more providing me with the opportunity to teach children, but this time in an academic environment.
