Information about Hannah
I am a primary trained teacher with 8 years` teaching experience, in both the private and state sectors, both in the UK and internationally. I have an excellent and in-depth knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum and follow your child`s school`s schemes and methods as far as possible to ensure continuity. I am knowledgeable about phonics and have had training with lots of different schemes, so can also help your child in this area.
I am able to tailor the curriculum to individual children based in their needs and interests, in order to make it as accessible to them as possible. I have experience working with children with dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, ADHD, autism and Asperger`s, with excellent results.
I studied English at undergraduate level at the University of Exeter, and undertook both my PGCE and Masters in Education at the University of Cambridge. On top of my experience teaching in schools, I have three years` tutoring experience and tutor for all primary subjects, including the 11+ Transfer Test.
Having worked in a Buckinghamshire private school, I have extensive knowledge of the 11+ and how to teach the methods and strategies needed for all elements of the test.
I also teach English as a second language online or face-to-face.
I differentiate learning towards the child based on assessments undertaken in the first session. I use practical and fun methods, practising each skill thoroughly to ensure that the child gains confidence and independence.
I use a range of different resources to help bring excitement to each lesson, whether that be iPad apps to practise times tables, or grammar work; hangman and crosswords to practise vocabulary and spelling; whiteboards to practise sentences or calculations; or LEGO and tangrams to help with spatial/non-verbal reasoning.
I enjoy getting to know each child as an individual and creating a learning plan which is personalised for them. After each lesson, you will be updated with what we have achieved in the session, your child`s progress and what we will be doing moving forward.

Hannah has really impressed us so far with my sons 1:1 tuition for 11+ and extended learning. She has taken a structured approach, arriving prepared and enthusiastic. My son, who is not given to sugar coating in any way, gives her 10/10.
