Information about Leah

Hi, my name is Leah. I am Irish but grew up in Italy and I am now living in London. I am currently a research officer at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences. I have a background in Human Sciences (BSc) from University College London and more recently I received a distinction for my Masters degree (MSc) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where I studied Sexual and Reproductive Health Research. As a result of my multidisciplinary background, I have experience in a range of topics from science and data science, to the study of languages and culture. In my spare time, I write poetry, which has been published online and in magazines.

I am really looking forward to helping you with your studies. I have a lot of experience tutoring English and science subjects. I enjoy teaching these immensely. Some of the subjects I took to degree level include Biology, Biochemistry, Anatomy. I have helped students in the past with biology and chemistry at both GCSE and A-level. I have also worked as an academic mentor in a secondary school in London where I taught one-to-one and in small groups. I have always had a particular passion for languages and would like to share this passion with other people. I speak fluent French, English and Italian and I have studied Arabic!

Let me know if you have any other questions and I look forward to hearing from you.

Availability: I am available weekends and evenings during the week.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I have worked as an Academic Mentor at a secondary school in North London. I helped students to achieve their potential in science subjects and languages. I also have previous tutoring experience teaching English to French students and adult learners. I have also tutored French GCSE and Biology GCSE and A-level.

I have worked as an au pair in France, where I tutored English to the children and helped them with their French homework. This has meant that I have experience helping people to overcome barriers when it comes to learning languages and is something that I really enjoy!

Leah worked with my son who had a week to prepare for an 11+ exam, she provided him with all the tools he needed to breakdown the questions. My son was very comfortable with Leah and found her teaching approach easy to absorb. My son passed his exam. I would strongly recommend Leah for anyone who wants nothing but the best tuition for their child. I will be using Leah again for both my daughter in secondary school and for my son again.

Tutors Response :
