Information about Sarah

I am a UCL graduate with a First Class BSc in Biochemistry, currently studying a Master`s at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I am a passionate and engaging Science/Maths tutor. Having achieved straight A*s and As at A-level and GCSEs, I know what it takes to reach a high standard of work and I really invest in my students` progress.

I like to get to know my students well - their strengths and weaknesses, expectations and concerns for the subject - and I am a firm believer in encouragement in all areas. I bring a positive and hopefully outlook to every lesson, and I am excited to watch my students grow and succeed.

Availability: Weekdays morning, afternoon or evening.

Saturday morning and afternoon.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have experience as a Secondary age maths tutor, and a Biology teaching assistant from my volunteering work in 2014. I have since helped many young people with their studies on a voluntary basis. Now graduated with a first class Biochemistry degree, I am keen to continue investing in helping young people achieve their very best and gain a passion for the sciences.

The grades I achieved:

BSc Biochemistry, 2017 - First Class (Hons.)
A-Levels, 2013 - 2 A*s & 2 As.
GSCEs, 2011 - 10 A*s & 1 A.

I know first-hand the challenges of handling the demands of rigorous academic study and have learnt key techniques in organisation, revision and exam preparation. These same tools, bringing me my own success, I can confidently pass on to my students to help them learn and retrieve information.

My tutoring style is a gentle but persistent approach. I provide my students with plenty of homework to solidify the concepts taught and expect them to work hard both in and outside of our sessions. I am happy to answer any questions, just drop me a message!

5/5 Rating

Sarah is organised, conscientious, personable and punctual. She is teaching my Year 11 son GCSE maths and has helped him to understand how to approach the more problem based new syllabus questions. He is positive about Sarah`s teaching methods and seems to be much more confident about his maths GCSE even after only a few lessons.
